Banff Wildlife Photos

Our Banff wildlife photos show some of the majestic wildlife of the Bow Valley. As you can tell, the majority of the wildlife you will experience are mountain sheep, deer, elk, and mountain goats. Hopefully, you will not run into a bear or a cougar, except from an incredibly safe distance! While precaution should always be taken, as you can tell that we have no photos of either bears or cougars, we have never run into a cougar and have only seldom encountered bears. The best precaution is to travel in large groups and make lots of noise.

Mountain sheep rule the Banff roadways.

Deer and elk are a common site in the towns of Banff and Canmore and, if you visit Jasper, elk are everywhere.

An baby mountain sheep rests by the side of the road, likely learning how its parents can bring traffic to a scenic standstill.

Waterfowl of all sorts abound on the lakes and waterways of Banff National Park.

More of the majestic mountain sheep.
